Glass Replacements
Capital Glass offers a wide variety of glass replacement services. Sorry, but we do not offer auto services. The most common glass replacement we perform is for windows or sliding glass doors. If you have a broken window or patio door, please see the information below to help you with the process.
1. Identify the glass type:
- Single Pane- a single piece of glass in the window frame.
- Dual Pane (also called an Insulated Glass Unit) - Two pieces of glass separated by an aluminum spacer, which creates an air pocket between them.
- Please note: If only one piece of glass in the Insulated Glass Unit is broken the entire unit must be replaced.
- Tempered Glass – If your window was tempered, you will need to replace it with tempered. Please see our FAQ page to find out more about tempering.
2. Next, identify the type of frame.
- The most common are Vinyl, Wood, and Aluminum Frames.
3. Measure the window.
There are many ways to measure a window, but for quote purposes the easiest way is to measure the daylight opening. This means measure the visible glass that you can see on the window. (width first and height second). The closer your measurement is, the more reliable our quote will be. Once we go forward with the replacement, we will send someone out to take precise measurements.
4. Determine if your replacement has any factors that might increase the price.
Here are a few to consider: Height of the replacement (Higher than ground level), Accessibility Issues, Grids, Broken Frame, Low-E, etc.
5. Call (775-883-6401), fax (775-883-6584) or email us with this information for a quote.
To save time and money, we also offer repairs by appointment if you bring the window into our shop. Same day service may be available. Call ahead.
