Shower Doors, Enclosures & Tub Enclosures
Capital Glass is a full service glass shower & bathtub enclosure dealer. We provide material and installation of heavy glass and traditional glass shower enclosures.
The term frameless is often used for both heavy glass and traditional glass shower enclosures. Originally each piece of glass needed to be framed in aluminum. Advances in glass tempering technology allowed for the frame to be removed from each panel, and the term frameless was born. These early frameless showers still required perimeter framing to hold the enclosure in place.
At Capital Glass we refer to these types of enclosures as Traditional Glass Shower Enclosures. Recently the use of heavy glass (3/8” or 1/2” tempered glass) and specially designed hardware, has allowed for the creation of shower enclosures without the perimeter framing.
Traditional Showers
Capital Glass offers two types of Traditional Shower and Tub Enclosures, Standard and Euro. The major difference between Standard and Euro is how the hardware is attached to the glass, and the style of the hardware.
The hardware for a Standard Shower Enclosure is clamped onto the glass with gaskets, and consists of blocked or squared hardware. The hardware for Euro enclosures is attached through drilled holes in the glass, and consists of rounded or smooth hardware. (See photos below)
Our Traditional Showers and Tub Enclosures consist of a wide variety of framing options (Brass, Bronze, Chrome, Gold, Brushed Nickel, White), and Glass Options (Clear, Glue Chip, Obscure, Rain, Narrow Reed).
Heavy Glass Showers
Capital Glass offers Heavy Glass Enclosures in either 3/8” or 1/2” tempered glass.
Largely due to the strength of the glass, much of the aluminum can be eliminated from the enclosure. There is still a need for some hardware to hold the glass in place. Capital Glass will help with the layout and design of the perfect enclosure for your space. The number of hinges and glass clips used depends on the design, and the size and weight of the glass panels and doors.
Hardware is available in either a square or beveled style, and is available in a wide variety of finishes. The most commonly requested finishes include Brushed or Satin Nickel, Polished Chrome, Oil Rubbed Bronze and Polished Stainless.
